The Duterte administration continues to push the peace talks forward between the government and the MNLF in Mindanao, but never on the Abu Sayyaf group which he considers as bandits.

Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF) leader Nur Misuari helped in the release of the Abu Sayyaf’s Norwegian hostage, Kjartan Sekkingstad, but he is asking the President to grant amnesty on the Abu Sayyaf group, but Duterte insists that there will be no negotiations with the group. He will never include the ASG to the peace talks.

The President expressed his desire to have a dialogue with Misuari, but he said that if Misuari insists on asking him to include the ASG in the peace talks, there will be no successful peace talks with the MNLF at all.

Duterte stands his ground that he will not talk to the Abu Sayyaf. Misuary, according to him, should wait for the next government to push the peace talks forward if he wants the ASG to be included.
